Wow. I wonder what it cost to get the licenses to both of these copyrights in order to place them into one game. If you were like me
and were totally fascinated with either of these movies then your in for a treat. Aliens Vs. Predator allows you to play one of three characters. You can be a Space Marine, an Alien, or even a Predator. My personal pick at this point is the Predator. There are so many little high tech toys to play with ! There are several modes of play. There is single player in which you have a specific mission in mind. Multiplayer, while I have yet to try it out, I assume is just a forum to battle it out with your buddies. There is also a Skirmish area. I jumped in this once as the predator and got the holy crap beat out of me by about 100 aliens. Not sure what the object was but I sure killed alot of those bastards.
Ran on the Voodoo 3 with no problems. As the predator I was really impressed with the graphics when switching
in and out of the thermal view. Very smooth. No bugs to report. Engine reminds me of the Unreal engine a bit?
This game controls like any other first person shooter. In this case there are a few more buttons to push but all in all
just like Quake.
I've only played a single player mission as the Predator so far all the way through. (Meaning I have actually gone thru a whole two levels with one character) You start out breaking into a human installation trying to get to your captured space ship. Any hints you need are displayed on the top of your screen to help you get through the levels. I don't know if it's the same for the other "characters" but I found it extremely easy to beat the levels so far. Most often if you are cloaked you can just sorta peer around a corner and dust some poor soul who never even saw you coming. (Just like the movie) The most difficult part at this point is figuring out which door to use and where to go. (Typical puzzle first person shooter type stuff) But even this proves to be pretty easy for the first couple of levels.
Definately alot of fun playing this game. The concept totally drives this game. I tell ya, it's quite a power trip being a bad guy. Enjoy.
