The world has been eagerly awaiting this release, and now, the wait is over. Does it live up to all the hype? Is it worth the agonizing wait we have endured?
Why, yes, of course it was. I won't really go into detail to explain what the game is about, because I don't want to spoil it too much. Lets just put it this way. Youre an undercover operative sent to this castle (Like, DUH!) to "investigate" some strange goings on. You and your partner get captured, and are sent to prison. Your first mission is to escape the prison! (Hmm, I didn't see that coming, did you?) Unfortunately your partner gets quick fried to a crackly crunch while your sitting all nice and cozy in your cell, and so, once again, youre on your own! Anyway, without spoiling too much, you must escape, and find out who is responsible for the evil goings on, and soon find yourself in hot pursuit of several top Nazi Officers, with something nasty up their sleeves. I leave it to you to discover what they are up to, and what you have to deal with. Good luck, your going to need it. And of course, the organization backing you disavows any knowledge of you, or what youre doing over there! Gee, thanks for the support, guys!!
Just about everyone has played the multiplayer test(s), so unless you've been living under a rock, you have a good idea of the graphics of this game. I was pleasantly surprised when I started up this game, and saw the flags blowing in the breeze, not to mention the curtains in the window. You can watch them for quite a while, and rarely see a repeating pattern. I was kind of disappointed at the graphics of the prison setting, but hey, it's a prison, it's supposed to be drab, no? Needless to say, I was startled once I stepped outside into the sunlight, and saw the surrounding countryside. Wow, what a difference a little sunshine makes! You really get the feeling that you have been trapped inside a prison, and are seeing sunshine for the first time. Of course, with those nasty evil Germans trying to plug me around every turn, who has time to admire the scenery?
The interface is the typical mouse/keyboard used with all FPS games of this nature. The keys are all remappable, so however your comfortable on your keyboard, your set.
Ah, the multiplayer aspect of this game. Where do I start? Almost everyone who has a connection to the internet has at one time or another played the multiplayer test of this game. Is there any improvement to the multiplayer from the play test version? Besides a few bug fixes, and several other maps to chose from now, there really isn't much different. They cleaned up the net code a bit, and solved a few issues that players where "taking advantage of". This multiplayer game is a cross between Team Fortress, and Day of Defeat, in that you have the Axis VS the Allies, and you also have different roles to play within each side. Each role plays a very important part in the game, from a medic to revive a player or give them health packs, or a lieutenant that can call air strikes, or pass out badly needed ammo, and all are needed to successfully play the game, and defeat the enemy.
This game from start to finish has got to be one of the best I have played in awhile. With an engrossing storyline that unfolds with each mission you undertake, you are quickly drawn into the game, and held there. You will find yourself struggling to walk away from the game! This is a must have game! From great weapons to fairly smart AI, from great graphics to a great storyline, this game will have you coming back for more!
