If you think you're about to play Populous, you're mistaken. For those of you who are famaliar with the old Populous I & II, this is a much different game. I think it would be better to just say it's a RTS game with alot of cool 3D effects set upon an old Populous theme only. You still start out in the stone age but what they took away was the feeling of being a part of a grand scheme rather than an individual battle. What I liked about the old Populous was the fact that you didn't control your charaters directly. You did things that would influence the decisions you made and they didn't always do what you wanted them to do. I loved being able to cast powerful spells from above. Now they have linked the spells to a single unit (The Shaman) and now you have to worry about protecting her.

Aside from being dissappointed in the not so Populous theme, I was actually impressed with the game simply because it was different graphically than most RTS's out there. The sounds were cool if not cartoonish and the music was appropriate. I found the difficulty of the levels and bit much but I suppose it wouldn't be any fun to beat the game in 3 days.

Conclusion: If you would like to check out a fresh way to play an RTS, then this is your game. Just don't expect it to resemble the old Populous games.
