Star Wars fanatics, this game is for you. And only you. Before jumping into this game I knew it was only an arcade shooter and not a simulation. I prefer the simulation myself but I still gave this one a run. In fact, I rather enjoyed it for the first few levels of play.

For the fanatics, the story line is great. You are part of the infamous Rogue Squadron that Luke Skywalker created shortly after the destruction of the first Death Star. You get to fly all sorts of aircraft including the snow speeder and another "new" ship. (I won't ruin it for you) You are pretty much limited to the ship choice or choices they give you depending on the level you are playing. I haven't been far enough to see if you can pick any ship anytime.

Graphics-wise I thought this game was pretty decent. Gameplay was smooth and definantly exciting. There are no shortages of bad guys trying to blow you away. The playing field is limited (Rememeber I said this was an arcade shooter) but it is fairly large enough to stretch your (x)wings in. One feature they included in the game was buildings like Jabba's Palace on Tattoine and the Imperial Palace on Coruscant. I thought this was a nice touch and it keeps the terrain from becoming boring.

I thought the sound effects were awesome. As usual most Star Wars games take the sounds right from the movies (or so it seems) and they won't let you down. There are some voice clips in there as well with orders being barked at you from certain people.

Overall, the game is enjoyable and it gets quite difficult as you ascend the levels of play. Star Wars fanatics will want this simply because it's Star Wars.
