I really think that they rushed this sequel way too quick. So much in fact, that I must say that
the first Army Men was much better then this sequel. About the only thing that I did like about this
game was the intro. It was well made and tries to give an already ridiculous game idea some seriousness.
But alas, an intro certainly will never make a game.
Man, what a dissappointment. It was pixelly(sp?) and really drawn bad. Alot of detail that used
to be on the original is now gone with the sequel. Maybe my resolution wasn't cranked up but still
we are talking about a sequel here. It should rock all over the previous game by utilizing the new
generation of video technology.
I didn't feel that the "desktop" area was very clear. It didn't display all of your options very well
and so this left you with starting the game out with your "army men" being shot at and the player moving
around the one guy shooting as fast as possible at the oncoming soldiers. I can only think of one other
game in the past that started you out in such a way and it drew criticism as well (Ultima 5). Never ever
start someone out in the midst of a battle in any game. It'll take them 10 tries before they ever can get past it, and later in the game as they figure stuff out, they'll realize how easy it would have been to just wipe everyone out. It doesn't teach tactics in the first 5 minutes of the game. It's frustrating. Tactics come later.
Well as previously stated, they released this game a bit premature. I don't even feel that it was an upgrade from the previous game. Just some different scenery to fight on and it wasn't drawn very well. Oh well, another one bites the dust.
